BIOGRAPHY

lionel has been writing and recording music in a multitude of styles since he was a teenager and now has a repertoire of over 1200 recorded songs and instrumental compositions. He has produced countless indie artists, and has released over 30 albums of his own music. His band, " The Plastic FanTastics " has received critical acclaim in the New York rock scene, described as " a cross between Nine Inch Nails and Love And Rockets " by Babysue.com. " The Plastic Fantastics combine the anger and angst of old school industrial with a little punk flair [...] Catchy music and lyrics, done to perfection " writes industrial.org. lionel has recently completed producing Maggie Kim 's sophomore album "Rock Tease" (including the remix of a track with John Legend), as well as a debut album for his new project " RoBOT LIKE ME " and a second album for The Plastic FanTastics. He is currently scoring several independent features and savouring the release of his "solo" album "The Sound Of Grey".

Born in France to a Moroccan father and French mother, raised in Canada, and living in New York City for the decade, lionel Cohen has always found expression as a musician, composer, producer, painter, photographer, writer, graphic designer and short film director. He has established himself as a multidisciplinary artist.

Since the late 1980's, his body of work has expanded into almost every medium possible. In Montreal, lionel began his career as a guitar player in heavy metal bands, however, his initial love of cinema prompted his studies in film, photography and the fine arts throughout both college and university. This is where he developed his passion for scoring motion pictures. (He later returned to school to earn a certification as an audio engineer.)

lionel's profession in New York City has been primarily as a Film/TV/Commercial composer. His commercial works include Sony PSP, Cadillac, Buick, Glenfiddich, Carslberg, Verizon, Odwalla, Sharp, Louis Vuitton, Walmart and Norelco, to name a few. He has composed music for television shows for NBC, Canal +, Fuel TV, Showtime, and countless independent films, including The Homeless Veterans Coalition, Kottentail and Shelter (Sundance Film Festival candidate) and student projects.
